Kristina Gabrenya, O.D. attended the annual meeting of the American Academy of Optometry December 8-11, 2005 in San Diego, California. At this year’s Annual Meeting, Dr. Gabrenya was awarded fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry. Professionals who become Fellows of the Academy must complete a rigorous candidacy process. Candidates submit extensive written work and must also pass an oral examination. A panel of leading optometrists and vision scientists must approve both the written work and the oral examination. Less than ten percent of practicing optometrists are Fellows of the Academy. “Fellows of the American Academy of Optometry constantly strive for the highest professional standards. The American Academy of Optometry Annual Meetings are recognized as presenting the latest in research and information on patient and vision care,” said Joe Yager, President of the Academy. Founded in 1922, the Academy’s mission is to promote the art and science of vision care. Academy Fellows are held to the highest ethical and professional standards of practice.
Dr. Kristina Gabrenya specializes in primary care optometry and ocular disease. She graduated with honors from Iowa State University, received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry, completed an optometric residency in ocular disease at the Jesse Brown Veterans Medical Center in Chicago and has achieved Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry.
